The Little Schemer is a delightful book that has been the road to LISP for many people. Good information on Y Combinators on the web. The Little Schemer arrived yesterday, and I'm now in the second chapter. It starts out very easy, which is what I expected, but my hope is that reviewing these basic concepts will cause them to become more solid in my mind. Grab a copy of SICP or The Little Schemer or whatever and go If you're on Linux or BSD and you don't have Guile installed, check your package manager for it. I've bought my copy of The Little Schemer, I'm pumping my del.icio.us bookmarks full of references to the applicative-order Y combinator, and I'm even fixing to post something about function currying here in a bit. Highlights include the YCombinator and the metacircular evaluator. Although I am terrible at computer I love it. To go with these books, I have started studying Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs populary called SICP. I couldnt do reverse list when I was reading SICP text and attempted the exercise, then I started reading the book 'The little schemer' and after chapter two, knew cons enough superficially to produce the exact logic as M. This book is recommended by one of my nerd friend when I said to him I would like to learn more computer things. Posted at 06:30 PM | Permalink. My two favorite: The Little Schemer and The Implementation of Functional Programming Languages, which the above is largely a summary of. Today I ordered little schemer, seasoned schemer and reasoned schemer, all in one batch.
